Four Chestnut Hill college baseball players had multiple hit games and
Nate O'Donnell drove in a pair of runs as the Griffins concluded their four game set at the Northeast Challenge in Myrtle Beach, south Carolina with a 12-6 loss to Queens college of New York.
The Griffins finished the trip with an 0-4 record while Queens evens their record at 2-2.
Kade Breisblatt took the loss for the Griffins, pitching three-plus innings and allowing six runs (four earned) while striking out two.Â
Eli Meredith, RJ Huth, Ruben Pichardo, and
Greg Sylvester all had two hits apiece.Â
The Knights jumped out to a 7-1 lead after four innings with the Griffins lone run coming in the bottom half of the first inning and
David Antone singled to score Meredith who led off the inning with a single.
The Griffins tacked on two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Meredith singled to score Sylvester and later scored on a double steal attempt making the score 7-3.  In the bottom of the sixth Pichardo drew a two-out walk and
Justin Geiger was hit by a pitch. Sylvester was also hit by a pitch to load the bases for O'Donnell who delivered a two-out single to score Pichardo and Geiger, pulling the Griffins within two 7-5.
Three extra base hits by the Knights in the eighth inning led to a five run outburst that saw Queens extend their lead to 12-5.Â
Andrew Sawarynski's sacrifice fly scored Lloyd McLaughlin with the final Griffins run in the ninth inning.
The baseball team is back in action on Thursday, March 2, 2023 when they travel to face Millersville University. First pitch is set for noon.
