The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team concluded their first day of competition at their own Griffin Baker Classic on Saturday, winning two of their five matches and sitting in 13
th place overall among the 20 schools competing. The event took place at Bowlerama in New Castle, Delaware.
The Griffins finished their first day with a total pinfall of 4,292, just five pins ahead of 14
th place Norfolk State University and 55 behind 12
th place Long Island University. Fairleigh Dickinson University is the current leader with a total pinfall of 5,016.
Opening the competition against St. Anselm College, the Griffins earned an 887-786 win.
Maddy Feldschnieder filled nine of ten frames while
Eryn Moore, Jessica Hollabaugh and
Maddie Gannon each filled eight of ten.
The Griffins went on to defeat Saint Thomas Aquinas college 791-639 in their second match as
Kayleina McGonigal filled six of eight frames.
Chestnut Hill suffered their first loss of the day in their third match, falling to #13 Delaware State University, 1090-944. McGonigal and Hollabaugh filled all ten frames bowled while Moore filled nine of ten.
Another nationally ranked team, #14, Fairleigh Dickinson University was the Griffins' next opponent. Chestnut Hill fell to the Knights 933-841. Moore filled nine of ten frames while Gannon and Hollabaugh filled eight of ten.
In Chestnut Hill's final match of the day, the Griffins fell to CACC rival Wilmington University 941-829.
Hope Widmer filled nine of ten frames while Gannon filled eight.
The Women's Bowling team will conclude their competition at the Griffin Baker classic on Sunday, February 5.
