Griffins Finish 13th at Griffin Baker Classic as Gannon Celebrates Senior Day

The Chestnut Hill College Women's bowling team concluded their competition at the Griffin Baker Classic on Sunday, winning their final match of the day to finish in 13th place overall.

The Griffins lost three of their first four matches of the day before winning the final best of seven baker match over Roberts Wesleyan University 4-3 to finish the tournament with a 4-6 record.

Prior to the start of Sunday's action the Griffins held a small ceremony to honor their one senior on the team, Maddie Gannon.  Gannon has been an integral part of the bowling program during her time at Chestnut Hill and is set to leave the school with the highest average in program history when she graduates in May.

Gannon herself celebrated her senior day with one of her best Baker match day performances of her career, filling a total of 88.8% of her frames bowled.

The senior bowler was a perfect 10/10 in CHC's first match, a 959-857 loss to Bloomfield College.  Eryn Moore filled nine of ten frames.

Gannon, Hope Widmer and Jessica Hollabaugh all filled nine of ten frames as the Griffins defeated Howard university 884-725 in the second match of the day.

Hollabaugh filled nine of ten frames as the Griffins dropped their third match to Long Island university 904- 799.  Gannon filled eight of ten frames in the match.

The fourth match was one of the Griffins closest of the day, falling to Norfolk State 853-826.  Moore and Hollabaugh filled eight frames apiece.

The final match of the day was a best-of-seven baker match to determine placing.   The Griffins took on Roberts Wesleyan University and defeated the Redhawks 4-3 to conclude the match and finish in 13th place.  Gannon had another perfect fill performance, filling all 14 frames in the seven-game contest.  Moore and Hollabaugh filled 11 of 14 frames.

The women's bowling team returns to action on February 17-19 for the WildcatD2/D3 Invitational hosted by Wilmington University in New Castle, Delaware.
