Madyson Schwartz scored four times and
Frances Vassallo added three goals as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Lacrosse team won their second straight game, defeating Davis and Elkins College, 11-4, on a dreary and drizzly Saturday afternoon at victory field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins improve to 3-2 overall while the Senators dropped to 0-7 on the season.
Schwartz finished the game with  four goals on seven shots.Â
Danielle Vassallo was the high point scorer with two goals and three assists for five points while
Frances Vassallo had three goals.Â
Rexney Thenor has two assists and a goal for three points on the afternoon.
Abby Galazka led the team with four ground balls while
Molly Killion and
Anna Sanverdine hads three apiece. Galazka and Schwartz also had two caused turnovers apiece. In net,
Mel Amador had 11 saves along with three ground balls.

Chestnut Hill had a big first half, breaking open a 2-2 tie in the first quarter with seven straight goals, which included a 6-0 effort in the second quarter. This strong offensive outburst gave the Griffins a 9-2 lead at halftime.
Danielle Vassallo got the Griffins on the board just 42 seconds into the game with an unassisted goal. D & E's Ari Hinton followed with the equalizer a little over a minute later. Vassallo then added her second goal at the 11:41 mark with
Torrin Kelley providing the assist. Hinton again tied the game at 2-2 just 40 seconds later.
The seven unanswered goal outburst began with 5:10 left in the opening quarter when Schwartz took a pass from Killion and put it past Senators' goalkeeper Marissa Cuevas for a 3-2 lead.
Frances Vassallo had all three of her goals in the second quarter, scoring the first two CHC goals of the period and adding a third with just 1:26 left in the half. Thenor scored at the 7:04 mark and assisted on Schwartz's second goal of the game less than a minute later.Â
Kaitlyn Carter closed out the second quarter scoring with a free-position goal with 38 seconds left. It was Carter's first collegiate goal. Â
Leading 9-2 heading into the second half, neither team mustered a lot of offense in the third quarter with the senators scoring the only goal of the period with 5:14 left to make the score 9-3. D&E's Hannah Lennon closed the deficit to 9-4. Schwartz provided the icing on the cake with her final two goals of the day, the first coming at the 9:23 mark with
Danielle Vassallo assisting and the second with 2:52 left (Thenor with the assist).
The women's lacrosse team opens conference play on Saturday, March 18, 2023 with a game at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. First draw is set for 12:00 p.m.
