Madyson Schwartz scored five goals while
Mel Amador produced a milestone in net for the Chestnut Hill College Women's Lacrosse team as they dropped their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener 18-10 to the university of Bridgeport Saturday afternoon in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The Griffins fall to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in league play. Bridgeport improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in conference contests.

Mel Amador recorded eight saves in net on the afternoon, giving the senior goalkeeper a total of 4,00 for her career. She becomes just the third player in program history to record 400 or more career saves, behind Katie Jo Lang (588; 2014-17) and Stephanie Jordan (544; 2006-09).
Schwartz tallied a season-high five goals, while
Frances Vassallo had three goals and four assists for seven points.Â
Danielle Vassallo had two goals and two assists.
Molly Killion led all players with a career-high five caused turnovers while also leading the team with five ground balls.Â
Abigail Galazka had four ground balls and three caused turnovers on the afternoon.
The Purple Knights jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first quarter before
Frances Vassallo and Schwartz closed the gap to 5-2 with two scores late in the period. Schwartz scored her second goal of the game early in the second period, again pulling the Griffins within three 6-3.
Following a UB goal, the Griffins rallied to tie the score , getting two goals from
Danielle Vassallo another from
Frances Vassallo and Schwartz's third of the goal.Â
Danielle Vassallo's unassisted goal with 6:28 left in the quarter was the game tying score. UB's Megan Kreitler scored her third goal of the game with four minutes left to give the Purple knights an 8-7 lead which they carried into the half.
Bridgeport's offense came out strong in the second half, outscoring the Griffins 10-3 over the final thirty minutes.Â
Frances Vassallo had an unassisted goal at the 12:34 mark of the third period to keep the Griffins within one 9-8 but the Purple Knights countered with four straight goals to take a 13-8 lead heading into the final period.
Schwartz scored 23 seconds into the four quarter to make the score 13-9 but the Purple Knights again scored four straight goals to take a commanding 17-9 lead. Schwartz took pass from
Frances Vassallo with six minutes left in the game to score her fifth and final goal and UB added one more goal to round out the scoring.
Megan Kreitler finished the game with six goals to pace the Bridgeport offense. Emily Stuart added four and Danielle Kreitler tallied three scores.
The women's lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 when they travel to play Wilmington University. First draw is set for 4:00 p.m.
