Bowling Team Wins Four of Five Matches on Opening Day at the Northeast Roundup

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team  opened competition in their final tournament before the Central Atlantic Collegiate conference Championships, winning four of their five contests at the Northeast Roundup at Bowlerama in New Castle, Delaware.  Wilmington University is hosting the event.

The Griffins currently sit in sixth place after their five traditional format matches, posting a total pinfall of 4,303.  Fairleigh Dickinson University is the top team overall heading into day two, with a total of 4,734.  The Griffins are the top CACC team of the five conference schools after day one, just 58 ins ahead of the host Wildcats.

Jess Hollabaugh finished the day as the Griffins' top bowler, placing ninth overall with an average of 191.40. Maddie Gannon also finished among the top 20 bowlers with a five match average of 178.80, placing 19th.

The Griffins opened the day with an 857-797 win over Bryant University. Hollabaugh led the team with a score of 202.  Kayleina McGonigal followed with a score of 184.

Gannon led the Griffins to their second win with a 201 score in their 872-603 triumph over CACC rival Holy Family University.  Hollabaugh scored 189. 

The Griffins won their third match with a narrow 805-797 victory over Bloomfield College.  Eryn Moore paced Chestnut Hill with a score of 197 while McGonigal added a score of 189.

Chestnut Hill's only loss came in their fourth match as Mercyhurst defeated the Griffins 950-814.  Gannon and Hollabaugh led the team with scores of 177 and 170 respectively. 

The Griffins closed out the day with their high match, defeating Kutztown University 959 to 832.  Hollabaugh had the team's high match of the afternoon with a score of 234.  Gannon rolled a 193 while Hope Widmer scored a 186 for the match.

The Women's Bowling team is back in action for the final day of the Northeast Roundup on Sunday, March 19, 2023.  The team will bowl in four baker format matches and ending the day with a best-of-seven baker match which will determine the final standings.
