The Chestnut Hill College women's Lacrosse Team was defeated by Wilmington University Wednesday afternoon, 22-3 at the WU Athletic Complex in Newark, Delaware
The Griffins fall to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Wildcats improve to 5-4 and 1-1 in league play.
Danielle Vassallo had two goals for the Griffins while
Torrin Kelley scored the Griffins third goal.Â
Abigail Galazka and
Molly Killion led the team with four ground balls apiece while Galazka and
Kaitlyn Carter caused two turnovers apiece in the contest.Â
Mel Amador had 11 saves in the net for Chestnut Hill.
Wilmington came out on fire and took a quick 6-0 lead in the first six minutes before Vassallo got the Griffins on the board with her first score of the game with 7:43 left in the first quarter.Â
The Wildcats added five more goals before the first quarter ended and scored their 12
th of the game at the 12:54 mark of the second quarter. Vassallo scored again at the 11:04 mark to make the score 12-2 but that would be the Griffins final score until the last minutes of the game when Kelley put the ball past the Wildcat keeper with 2:15 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Griffins trailing 22-2 to round out the scoring.
The women's lacrosse team is back in action on Saturday, March 25, 2023 when they host Post University for their third CACC contest of the season. First draw is set for noon.
