Make it three straight wins for the Chestnut Hill college men's lacrosse team as they took control of their game against Davis and Elkins College with solid second and third quarters as they powered their way to a 15-7 win.
CHC's third consecutive win gives the Griffins a 4-2 overall record. The Senators fall to 2-8 with the loss.
The Griffins followed a somewhat lackluster start in the opening period to outscore the Senators 4-0 in the second quarter and 6-1 in the third to take command of the contest.
Cade Johnson scored five times and added an assist to finish with six points.Â
Sam Slater tallied four goals and faded three assists for a team high seven points. Joining Johnson and Slater as multiple goal scorers was
Zach Jastrzebski with two goals.Â
Zach Schultz led a dominant faceoff game for the Griffins who won 22 of 26 total. Schultz himself won 15 of 18 and garnered 11 ground balls while also scoring a goal.
Austin Jones earned his third win of the season, allowing just three goals in just under 44 minutes.Â

The Senators got on the board just 33 seconds into the game, taking a quick 1-0 lead on a goal by Tre Turner. Jastrzebski got the equalizer at the 10:48 while the Griffins were a man-up. A second goal by the Senators at the 8:22 mark again gave the visitors the lead, but the Johnson-Slater connection struck less than a minute later with Johnson taking a pass from Slater to tie the game at 2-2.
The Griffins went on to score 11 straight goals over the next 30 minutes of action taking a 13-2 lead just past the midway point of the third period. Slater got the offense rolling with a natural hat-trick with Johnson assisting on the first goal and
Will Duddy and Jastrzebski on the subsequent two, making the score 5-2 midway through the second quarter.
Tommy Austin followed with a goal at the 5:38 mark and Johnson had his second goal with 3:09 left in the half. Schultz then won the faceoff and took the ball right down the field to score just five seconds later, giving the Griffins an 8-2 lead.
The first six minutes of the third quarter saw the Griffins add four more goals to their score with Johnson scoring two of them, the last a man-up effort via a feed from
Noah Hammon at the 8:44 mark. Jastrzebski and Duddy also scored earlier in the quarter. Slater's fourth goal made the score 13-2 with 6:01 left.
