The Chestnut Hill College women's Bowling team lost Saturday afternoon to Caldwell University, 2-1 on Day two of the Central Atlantic collegiate conference Championships as the team attempts to become the first CACC Women's Bowling conference champion.
The Griffins drop into the losers bracket in the double-elimination tournament with the loss. Chestnut Hill will play top seed Wilmington University, who won twice on Saturday to avoid elimination.
Caldwell advances to the championship match to face the winner of Sunday morning's Wilmington-Chestnut Hill match for the championship title.
The Cougars took the opening match in the best-of-three mega match series, winning the traditional format portion 1077-918.Â
Eryn Moore led the way, bowling a 204.Â
Hope Widmer and
Maddie Gannon followed with scores of 195 and 184 respectively.
The Griffins evened the match at 1-1 by winning the total pinfall baker format round, 1007-943.Â
Kayleina McGonigal filled all ten frames in leading the Griffins to tie the match.Â
Jess Hollabaugh and Moore each filled nine of ten frames.
The match then was decided on a best-of-seven baker format series. Chestnut Hill won the first match 225-214 but the Cougars went on to win the next four games 229-180, 238-222, 202-135 and 204-181 to win the series 4-1 and take the match 2-1. Moore, Hollabaugh, McGonigal and Widmer all filled eight of ten frames.
On the day, Moore recorded strikes in 56.6% of her attempts while Gannon struck on 51.2% of her attempts.
Sunday's match against Wilmington is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. at Our Town Alley in East Norriton, Pennsylvania. The championship match will start around 1:30 p.m.
