Four different players drove in multiple runs and
Ben Bradt earned his first win in a Chestnut Hill College uniform as the Griffins' baseball team exploded for 21 runs as they defeated Alliance University 21-4 Monday afternoon at Ferryhawks Stadium in Staten Island, New York.
The Griffins evened their conference record at 2-2 and improved to 8-14 overall.
Bradt started and pitched the first four innings to earn the win and improve to 1-3 on the season. He allowed three runs on six hits while striking out two.Â
Brendan Long pitched the final three innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts.
Zack Ahmed extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single and a double. Ahmed had three RBI on the afternoon and also stole two bases.Â
Justin Geiger also had three RBI, all on sacrifice flies. Geiger finished the game without an at-bat as he walked in his other two plate appearances.Â
Ahmaad Goldson and
Ruben Pichardo had two RBI apiece.Â

Geiger's first sacrifice fly of the game gave the Griffins an early 1-0 lead. Alliance took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second before the griffins started to produce multiple run innings.  CHC retook the lead with two runs in the third and blew the game open with six runs in the fourth.
The Griffins had just two hits in the inning, a leadoff single from
Andrew Sawarynski and an RBI double from Ahmed. Alliance had three errors in the inning, all of which contributed to the Griffins' scoring outburst.Â
David Antone's sacrifice fly plated the final run of the inning and gave CHC a 9-3 lead.
Goldson had a two-run bases-loaded single in the fifth and Geiger later scored on a wild pitch to make the score 12-3. In the sixth, Meredith was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in one run with Ahmed driving in another via a fielder's choice and Geiger launching his third sacrifice fly to score Meredith with CHC's 16
th run.
Alliance pitchers gave up five walks in the top half of the seventh with four of those coming around to score. The Griffins had just one hit in the inning, a two-run double from Pichardo to make the score 21-3.Â
Alliance scored a run on a wild pitch in the seventh to round out the scoring.
The baseball team concludes its three-game series with alliance with a home doubleheader on Saturday, April 1, 2023. First pitch is set for noon.
