The Chestnut Hill College Women's Lacrosse team continued their non-conference schedule on Saturday with a 20-2 loss at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
The Griffins fall to 1-2 with the loss while Shepherd improves to 3-2.
Frances Vassallo scored both goals to pace the Griffins offense while
Danielle Vassallo assisted on both.
Abigail Galazka led the team with five ground balls. In net goalkeeper
Mel Amador had 15 saves.
Shepherd jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter before
Frances Vassallo put the Griffins on the board with a man-up goal with 1:38 left. The Rams added a goal before the quarter ended and four more in the second quarter to lead 12-1 at halftime.
Frances Vassallo added her second goal of the game at the 12:22 mark of the third quarter with her sister Danielle again assisting on the play. The Griffins defense held the Rams scoreless for the next nine minutes before the home team struck for two goals in the final 3:17 to end the third quarter leading 14-1. The Rams closed out the game with six more tallies in the fourth quarter.
The women's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 when they travel to face the University of the District of Columbia. First draw is at 5:30 p.m. at Jackson Reed HS Field.
