The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team won their second consecutive conference match on Saturday, defeating Goldey-Beacom college 5-2 at the DelCastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Griffins improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games while the Lightning fall to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in league play.
Chestnut Hill won two of the three doubles matches to secure the doubles points and a 1-0 lead. Annika Wise and Elena Arenas Guisasola scored a 6-2 win over Lisa-Marie Roussignol and Asli Kounok at #3 doubles and Alison Isaac and Nele Haag remained unbeaten in doubles dual match play (5-0) with a 6-2 win over Macy Hendon-Walker and Nahomi Quinonez at #2 doubles, securing the doubles point. The Lightning took the #1 doubles match
Wise continued her solid play in singles action, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win over Elina Mukhamaddeva at #6 singles to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead. Wise completed her afternoon with two wins on the day. Romi Meirovich followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Roussignol at #5 singles for a 3-0 Griffins lead.
Isaac also went 2-0 on the day and secured the match win for the Griffins with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Liza Mova at #1 singles. Lilian Bandel followed with her first collegiate singles win , 6-3, 6-1 over Zehra Canbaz at #2 singles, for the Griffins final point of the afternoon.
The Lightning scored their only two points with wins at #3 and #4 singles.
The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team returns to action on Monday, September 25, 2023 with a match at home against Dominican University. First serve is at 2:00 p.m., weather permitting.
