Wilmington University handed the Chestnut Hill college women's Tennis team their first Central Atlantic collegiate conference loss of the season, defeating the griffins 7-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Griffins fall to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in CACC games. The Wildcats improve to 3-0 overall and in conference matches.
The Wildcats took two of the three doubles matches to secure the doubles points and take a 1-0 lead in the match. Chestnut Hill's lone doubles win came at #1 doubles as
Romi Meirovich and
Lilian Bandel defeated Alva Norberg and Valentina Ivankovic, 6-1.
Two of the six singles matches went to a tiebreaker with the Wilmington opponent coming out on top.Â
Nele Haag lost to Norberg, 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (12-10) at #3 singles while
Alison Isaac lost to Jess Purdy 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) at #2 singles.
The Griffins dropped the remaining four singles matches in straight sets as Bandel fell at #1 singles, Meirovich at #4 singles,
Annika Wise at #5 singles and
Elena Arenas Guisasola at #6 singles.
The Chestnut Hill college women's Tennis Team returns to action on Saturday, September 30, 2023, when they host Post University in a CACC match at the CHC Tennis courts. First serve is at 12 noon.
