Griffins Drop First Conference Match of Season at Jefferson

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team dropped their first conference match of the season on Saturday losing at Jefferson University 3-1 at the Gallagher Center in Philadelphia.

The Griffins also lost the second match of their tri-match on the afternoon, falling to Adelphi University 3-0.   The Griffins fall to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in Central Atlantic collegiate conference matches.  Jefferson improves to 6-6 overall and 3-0 in league play.  Adelphi improves to 7-4 overall.

Jefferson took the first two sets 25-16 and 25-21 before the Griffins came back to win the third 25-20.  The Rams finished the match with a 25-10 victory in the fourth set.

Mia Caporellie set another milestone on Saturday.  Fresh off becoming the second player with 2,000 career assists, Caporellie recorded her 100th career service ace against the Rams, becoming the 12th player in program history to reach the 100-aces plateau.  She reached the 100-ace mark with her third and final ace of the Jefferson match, early in the third set.

 Rachel Mace and Erika Dubosky led the team with 13 and 11 kills respectively against Jefferson.  Caporellie recorded three aces while also adding 26 assists setting the Griffin offense.

On the defensive side, Dubosky led the team with nine digs while Torrin Kelley chipped in eight.  

Adelphi recorded the sweep in CHC's second match of the day with scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-20.

Cha'kya Johnson and Mace led the Griffins with six kills apiece while Kate Hanley and Angela April each contributed five kills.  Caporellie had 22 assists while Kelley led the team with two aces.

Dubosky and Mace led the team with 12 and 10 digs respectively.  Maya Hopson had two blocks to lead the Griffins.

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 when they host Shippensburg University in a non-conference matchup.  Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
