Make it seven wins in a row for the Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team as the defeated host Bloomsburg University 4-3 at the Burt Reese Tennis Center in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins improve to 9-2 with the win. Bloomsburg falls to 3-1.
Chestnut Hill started the match by capturing the doubles point, winning two of the three contests. CHC's #1 doubles team of Lilian Bandel and Alison Isaac defeated Jen McDonald and Lexi Quackenbush 6-0 and Elena Arenas Guisasola and Annabel Snow followed with a 6-2 win over Alyssa Mazurek and Alese Rinker at #3 doubles to clinch the point.
In singles play, the first three matches to be completed all went the way of the Huskies, giving the hosts a 3-1 lead.  Arenas closed the gap to 3-2 with a win over Quackenbush at #1 singles, 6-4, 6-3 and Claudia Rasilla tied the match with a 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-7) win over Lia-Sophie Steele at #5 singles.
With the score now tied at 3-3, Romi Meirovich's match at #3 singles with McDonald was the deciding contest. The two athletes split their first two sets, forcing a ten-point tiebreaker to decide the match.  After some back and forth exchange of points, Meirovich pulled ahead to win the tiebreaker 10-7 and give her the match 7-5, 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-7) and Chestnut Hill's fourth and deciding point for the victory.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, October 12, 2024 when they host Goldey-Beacom College in key conference tilt at the CHC Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.Â
