The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team had their seven match winning streak snapped Saturday afternoon as Goldey-Beacom College handed the Griffins a 5-2 loss at the CHC Tennis Courts in Philadelphia.
The loss, the Griffins' first at home this season, drops their record to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games The Lightning improve to 6-3 in league play and 7-3 overall.
The two teams split the first two doubles match with the Lightning winning at #2 doubles and the Griffins #1 doubles team of Alison Isaac and Lilian Bandel  recorded a 7-5 win over Zehra Canbaz and Sofia Lopez.  The Lightning then secured the doubles point winning the #3 doubles match in a tiebreaker.
Isaac evened the score with a win at #1 singles, defeating Elizabeth Mova 6-2, 6-0. With the singles win, coupled along with the double win, Isaac improves to 15-0 in conference matches (7-0 singles, 8-0 doubles).
The Lightning proceeded to clinch the match with four straight wins before the Griffins recorded their final point of the afternoon. Bandel recorded a 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 win over Jess Sanzo at #4 singles.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Sunday, October 13, 2024, when the host Kutztown University at the CHC Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
