The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team rallied from a 3-2 deficit, winning the final two matches of the day to complete a regular season sweep of Jefferson University 4-3 Tuesday afternoon at the CHC Tennis Courts.
The Griffins improve to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches. The Rams fall to 2-4 overall and 1-4 in league play.
Jefferson had won three of the first four singles matches to take a 3-2 lead with two matches remaining, the #6 singles and the #1 singles contests, both having gone into a third set.
Anisha Reddy Thada lost the first set of her #6 singles match with Emily Frost 6-1 but rallied to win the second set 6-4 to force the third set. Reddy continued her solid play in the third set, winning 6-3 to take the match 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 and tie the score at 3-3.
Alison Isaac meanwhile, won her opening set against Nicole Hrbkova at #1 singles, 6-1 before Hrbkova rallied to even the score with a second set win, 6-3. Isaac came back to take the third set 6-3 to win the match 6-1, 3-6, 6-3; giving the Griffins the match win 4-3.  Isaac remains unbeaten in conference play, sporting a 4-0 singles mark (all at #1 singles) and a 5-0 doubles mark, having won at doubles to open the match earlier in the day.
The Griffins started out with a 1-0 lead in the match by taking two of the three doubles contests to earn the doubles point. Romi Meirovich and Claudia Rasilla defeated Anna Morgillo and Rose Huang 6-1 at #2 doubles while Isaac and Lilian Bandel earned a 5-4 win over Hrbkova and Alycia Veroux.
Veroux and Morgillo recorded win at #2 and #4 singles respectively to give the Rams a 2-1 lead in the match.  Rasilla tied the match at 2-2, defeating Zenia Baretto 6-3, 6-3 at #5 singles before Huang scored a win at #3 singles to give Jefferson a 3-2 lead heading into the final two matches which were won by the Griffins.
The women's tennis team resumes conference action on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, with a match at Goldey-Beacom College. First serve is at 2 p.m.
