Griffins Fall to Wildcats in CACC Championship Match

Isaac and Meirovich Named to All-Tournament Team

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team put up a strong effort against Wilmington University in Sunday's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship match, but the three-time defending champion Wildcats won three of the first four singles contests to capture their fourth consecutive title, defeating the Griffins 4-1 at the Delcastle Tennis center in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Griffins finish the championship segment portion of their season with a 12-5 record while the Wildcats are 12-0.

Chestnut Hill's lone point of the day came at #1 singles as Alison Isaac won her 12th straight singles dual match, defeating Molly Carlberg 6-1, 6-0.  Isaac finished the season with a 16-2 singles mark with her only losses coming in the quarterfinal round of the ITA East Region tournament (9/15) and against division I Mount St. Mary's (9/6).

Isaac's efforts in the championship tournament earned her a spot on the CACC All-Tournament team which was announced at the conclusion of the match.  Joining Isaac on the all-tournament team was senior Romi Meirovich.   Meirovich's singles match vs. Wilmington went unfinished and she lost 3 doubles earlier in the day.  Yesterday in the semifinals, however she swept both singles and doubles, with her singles win clinching the match against Goldey-Beacom College, 4-1.

Back to the match, the Wildcats won the doubles point with wins at #1 and #3 doubles and won their matches at #2, #5 and #6 singles after Isaac's #1 singles win tied the match at 1-1.

The women's tennis team will resume contests in the spring of 2025.
