Box Score Four members of the Chestnut Hill college men's tennis team participated in the Saint Joseph's University Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Philadelphia.
Two of the four, Alessio Lefebvre and Enzo Puppi were part of the singles draw playing in the black flight. Both players lost their initial match on Friday and moved into the backdraw, playing two matches apiece on Saturday with each player coming away with one win.
Lefebvre lost his opening match to Forbes Hollingsworth of Bryant University on Friday, 6-2, 6-2 but rebounded on Saturday to win his first match of the backdraw, defeating Victor Imanishi of Lehigh University, 8-6 before falling to Josh Steere of Bryant 8-6.
Puppi lost his opening match to Eli Gan-Dy of St., Joseph's, 7-5, 7-6 (9-7) on Friday. On Saturday, Puppi defeated Sadhista Linga of NJIT 8-4 before falling to Jack Sherner of Villanova University 8-5.
In doubles play Lefebvre and Puppi teamed up and lost to a familiar foe after a first round bye, Mario Antonio and Johary Rabetrano of Jefferson University 6-1. Siddharth Malik and Arnaud Vangenechten lost their first doubles match on Friday to Benedict Horn-Borque and Nate Raney of Lehigh, 6-3. On Saturday Malik and Vangenechten lost to Sherner and Josh Vestal of Villanova 6-4.
The men's tennis team is back in action with a match at Bloomsburg University on Friday, October 11. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
