The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team struggled to get their offense on track Saturday afternoon as the dropped a 3-0 decision to defending Central Atlantic Collegiate conference champion University of Bridgeport at Sorgenti Arena in Philadelphia.
The Griffins, despite the loss, remain in second place I the CACC south division with an 8-5 record in conference games and a 14-8 mark overall. The Purple Knights hold down second place in the CACC North with a 9-3 conference mark and a 16-9 overall record.
Bridgeport took a hard fought first set 25-23 by scoring the final two points for the win. The Purple Knights broke a 14-14 tie in the second set with an 11-1 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-15 win. UB continued the run in the third set, scoring the first seven points and the Griffins would come no closer than four the rest of the way as the visitors captured the third set 25-14 and the match 3-0.
Erika Dubosky led the Griffins with 11 kills and also recorded a double-double with a team-high 11 digs. Angela April and Kate Hanley added six kills apiece while Pamela Uceta chipped in five. Mia Caporellie set the offense with 26 assists and also had two of the Griffins' three aces on the afternoon.
In addition to Dubosky's 11 digs, Caporellie added eight while Alexandra Crespin had seven.
Paola Hernandez and Hailey Jessen led the Purple Knights with 12 and 10 kills respectively. Jaden Drollinger had 26 assists, three aces and nine digs while Ella Bowman also added nine digs.
The women's volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, November 9, 2024, as they travel to face Dominican University in Orangeburg, New York. Tipoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
