The Chestnut Hill College Women's Basketball team, playing in their first game following the completion of final exams, fell to Division I La Salle University 95-46 at the John Glaser Arena in Philadelphia.
The Griffins fall to 4-7 while the Explorers improve to 6-5.
Ten different players scored for the Griffins, led by a quartet of players with six points apiece. Caleigh Edwards produced the best all-around performance by a Griffin in the game with her six points (2-4 FG, 2-2 FT), six assists, four rebounds and two steals.  Tiayo Adelekan had six points (3-4 FG) and a team high seven rebounds. Sara Tamoun came off the bench to contribute six points (3-3) while Tikaya Miller, in her first collegiate start, also contributed six points.
The Explorers led wire-to-wire, jumping out to a 14-4 lead with ten of the 14 points coming from second chance opportunities. La Salle expanded the lead to 12, 20-8 by the end of the period.
The Griffins opened the second quarter with an 8-2 run, cutting the lead to six 22-16. Tamoun had two  baskets while Edwards and Adelekan each contributed one field goal on the run. The Explorers countered with seven straight points to push their lead up to 13 points, 29-16. Chestnut Hill cut the margin to nine three times over the next two minutes before La Salle closed out the half with a 9-0 run to lead 42-24 at the half.
La Salle increased their lead as the second half progressed, outscoring the Griffins 53-22 in the second half to pull out the 95-46 win.
The women's basketball team returns to action on Sunday, December 15, 2024 when they host West Chester University at Sorgenti Arena. Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
