Kayleina McGonigal bowled 33 strikes and filled 32 of 36 frames as the Chestnut Hill college women's bowling team won two of their three matches on Sunday to conclude competition at the Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational in New Castle, Delaware.
Chestnut Hill finished in ninth place with the two best of seven baker match wins. Overall, the team is now 32-48,
The Griffins opened the day with a 4-1 win over D'Youville University. D'Youville won the first game 212-144 before Chestnut Hill swept the next four games to take the match, defeating the Saints 214-139, 212-199, 197-170 and 221-168. McGonigal filled all ten frames bowled while
Eryn Moore filled nine of ten. Â Â
Gabriella Munsey filled seven of eight frames and recorded strikes on six of eight balls rolled.
Daemen University handed the Griffins a 4-2 loss in their second match. Daemen won the first three games, 182-166, 210-203, and 214-164 before the Griffins battled back to take games four and five, 210-172 and 211-197. Daemen completed the win with a 260-159 win in game six. Munsey and McGonigal filled ten of 12 frames respectively with Munsey recording strikes in eight of them.
Chestnut Hill's final match of the day came against Adelphi University where the Griffins rallied from a 3-2 deficit to defeat the Panthers 4-3.  The Panthers won the first two games, 175-151 and 188-161 while the Griffins took the next two 161-153 and 184-138, AU took a 3-2 lead with a 192-178 win in game five. The Griffins rallied to win game six 213-170 and then had their best baker score of the day in game seven, recording a 232-181 win.  Moore filled 12 of 14 frames with eight strikes. McGonigal also filled 12 of 14 frames while recording 14 strikes.
The women's bowling team returns to action for the final Central Atlantic collegiate conference regular season invitational on March 2-3, 2024. The Invitational will be held at Bowlerama in New Castle Delaware.
