The Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team saw their modest two-game win streak snapped as their normally well balanced offense struggled to produce points leading the team to take a 74-57 loss to host Jefferson University Tuesday night at TJU's Gallagher Center.
The Griffins fall to 7-16 overall and 6-6 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games. The Rams improve to 6-4 in league play and 13-8 overall.
Neal Hill and
Alejandro Redondo Cybak were the Griffins two most consistent shooters on the night, will Hill making eight of 12 shots from the field and finishing with 19 points and Cybak connecting on six of 11 shots from the field and finished with 14 points.
Argel Pettit IV added ten points.
Cybak led the Griffins with nine rebounds while Hill grabbed eight boards.
Noah Charles had three assists.
Chestnut Hill played from behind for much of the game, trailing by as many as 12 in the first half before battling back to cut the lead to six by half with an 8-4 run over the final five minutes, 39-33.
The lead was cut to five twice in the second half before the Rams went on a 10-4 run to push the lead back up to double figures, 51-40 just five minutes into the half. The Griffins cut the lead to nine twice but never got any closer as Jefferson continued to increase their lead to as many as 19 before settling in for the 17-point win.
For the game the Griffins shot just 35% from the field (21-60). The Rams meanwhile shot 53.8% (28-52) from the field. Jefferson also held a 36-29 rebounding advantage.
The men's basketball team returns to action on Monday, February 12, 2024 for a non-conference game against Caldwell University at Sorgenti Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
