Game Recap: Baseball |

Griffins Swept by Eagles in Connecticut

Playing in their second conference doubleheader in two days, the Chestnut Hill College baseball team was swept by Post University 4-0 and 3-0 Tuesday afternoon at Municipal StadiumĀ  in Waterbury, Connecticut.

The Griffins fall to 7-17 overall and 1-5 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games.Ā  Post improves to 12-14 overall.

Chestnut Hill was no-hit in the opener and Matt Semon held the Griffins hitless over the course of the seven inning game./ The Griffins did draw four walks and were hit by a pitch five times to have their share of baserunners and chances to score.

One of those chances came in the second inning when Christian Peluso walked to leadoff the inning, and reached third on a sacrifice and a wild pitch.Ā  Calvin McCall walked and Shawn LeVan was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two out but the Griffins failed to score, leaving all three runners stranded.

RJ Huth and Justin Geiger were both hit by a pitch twice.Ā  Geiger also stole two bases to bring his team leading total to 18 on the season (second in the CACC).

Jake Schweiker took the loss, tossing a complete game allowing all four runs on six hits while striking out four.

Chestnut Hill's offense continued to struggle in game two, recording just three hits as the Griffins lost 3-0.Ā  Benjamin Bradt started and took the loss, tossing 2.2 innings and allowing two runs on two hits while striking out two.

Alex Fascia had the lone extra-base hit for the Griffins on the day in game two, a double in the second inning.

The baseball team returns to action for a non-conference doubleheader against West Chester University on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Hostelley fieldĀ  in North Wales.Ā  First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
