A storm came to Victory Field in Lafayette Hill Friday afternoon as Lake Erie College Storm defeat the Chestnut Hill College Griffins Women's Lacrosse team 13-4.
The Griffins fall ro 1-2 on the season while the Storm improve to 3-3.
Griffins' goalkeeper
Virginia Perry recorded 18 saves in goal while on offense
Molly Killion had two goals and
Lauren Sullivan and
Anna Sanverdine had one apiece.Â
Sanverdine's score was her first collegiate goal.
Riley Regan had four ground balls while
Ajibola Adesipo recorded two caused turnovers.Â
Elizabeth Deal and Regan won five draw controls apiece.
Trailing 3-0, Killion put the Griffins on the board with a man-up free position goal with 2:32 left in the first quarter.  The Storm followed with five unanswered scores to lead 8-1 at halftime.
Sullivan took a pass from Regan early in the third quarter and put the ball into the net for the Griffins second goal of the game and their second man-up goal of the game, making the score 8-2.
Lake Erie scored four more times in the third quarter and opened the scoring in the fourth quarter to increase their lead to 13-2.   Late in the game, Sanverdine took a free position shot and blasted it past LEC goalkeeper Bethany Kirkwood for her first collegiate goal. Killion rounded out the scoring with her second goal of the game with Regan earning her second assist as the clock was expiring.
The women's lacrosse team returns to action on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, with a non-conference match against CACC rival Caldwell University. First draw is set for 7:00 p.m.
