Following a narrow loss to defending conference champion Wilmington on Thursday, The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team got back on the winning track with a 7-0 win over Post University on Saturday at the CHC Tennis Courts.
The Griffins improve to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches. Post falls to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.
The Griffins took home the first point of the match with a sweep of the three doubles contests. The team of Claudia Rasilla and Romi Meirovich started the sweep with a 6-1 win over Melanie Leussink and Annalein Van Urk at #2 doubles. The Griffins #1 doubles team of Lilian Bandel and Alison Isaac followed with a 6-2 win over Nina Langenfeld and Megan Lombardt, clinching the pivotal first point for the Griffins. Annabel Snow and Anisha Reddy Thada completed the sweep with a 7-5 win over Julie Merlin and Giola Turco at #3 doubles.
Chestnut Hill has earned the doubles point in each of their first four conference matches this year.
Rasilla gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Leussink at #5 singles while Meirovich made it 3-0, defeating Van Urk, 6-4, 6-1 at #3 singles. Thada clinched the match for Chestnut Hill at #6 singles, earning a 6-0, 6-4 win over Turco.
Bandel remained undefeated in conference matches with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Merlin at #2 singles, increasing the Griffins lead to 5-0. Snow continued her solid freshman campaign with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Langenfeld. Isaac rounded out the winners with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Lombardt at #1 singles. Alison is also undefeated in conference matches this season.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Tuesday, September 24 with a non-conference match at West Chester University before traveling to Goldey-Beacom College for their next CACC match on Wednesday. The West Chester match starts at 3:30 p.m. while the match against the Lightning starts at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
