Lightning Slip by Griffins in Final Fall Regular Season Match

In their final regular season match of the fall, the Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Goldey-Beacom College at the independence School in Newark, Delaware Thursday afternoon.

The Griffins finish the regular season with a 4-6 record in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games and a 5-7 record overall.  The Lightning finish the regular season at 5-5 overall and in league play.  The loss drops the Griffins to the #4 seed for the upcoming CACC Championship Tournament.

The Lightning opened the match with a sweep of the doubles contests, winning at #1 and #2 doubles and earning a default win at #3 doubles.

A second default at #6 singles gave Goldey-Beacom a 2-0 lead.  The Griffins recovered to tie the match at 2-2 with wins at #5 and #4 singles.   Claudia Rasilla Romero was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Elena Mukhamadeeva at #5 singles while Lilian Bandel won 6-0, 6-0 at #4 singles over Ihsane Achouri.

GBC's Camilla Franzen put the Lightning back ahead with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Milica Zagorac at #1 singles and then clinched the match as Jenna Frank beat Elena Arenas Guisasola 6-2, 6-2 at #3 singles.  Veronika Lundgren scored the final point for the Griffins, defeating Lucia Corte, 4-6, 6-0 1-0 (10-3).

The women's tennis team will open the CACC Tournament Championship with a semi-final match against top seed Jefferson University (10-0 CACC) on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Delcastle Tennis center in New Castle, Delaware.  A win over the Rams will propel the Griffins to the championship match on Sunday at noon.
