The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team won their third conference match of the season, defeating Dominican University Monday afternoon at Manny Weller Park in Monsey, New York.
The Griffins improve to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches. The Chargers fall to 1-5 overall and in league play.
Chestnut Hill opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning both doubles matches that were played (CHC defaulted at #3 doubles due to only having five players).
Lillian Bandel and Claudia Rasilla Romero earned a 6-4 win over Elizaveta Kisel and Angelina Amelkina at #2 doubles followed by Elena Arenas Guisasola and Veronika Lundgren defeating Hayley McGhee and Bryn Fitzmaurice at #1 doubles 6-1.
A default at #6 singles by the Griffins tied the match at 1-1. Rasilla Romero put the Griffins ahead for good when her opponent at #3 singles (Kisel) retired before the second set began with Romero leading 6-2. Milica Zagorac followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Vanya Tyagi at #2 singles.Â
