The Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team opened their 2025-26 season at the Tournament of Heroes at the College of Staten Island, taking on Assumption University in their opening game.  The Greyhounds put up 51 first half points en route to an 87-64 win over the Griffins.

IV Pettit led the Griffins with 19 points (6-11 FG, 5-5 FT) while Tyler Spencer added 12 points (4-7 FG, 6-6 FT) and a team high seven rebounds.  Kamal Lee had three steals while Malcolm Day had a pair of blocks.

Assumption scored the first points and jumped out to a double-digit lead just five minutes into the game, 18-8.  The Greyhounds made seven of their first nine shots including a trio o three point baskets to take control of the contest.  Their hot shooting continued in the first half as they continued to expand their lead, leading by as many as 24 points before heading into the locker room at halftime up 51-38. 

The Greyhounds shot 67.74% from the field in the first half, making 21 of 31 shots from the field.  The Griffins made just eight of 24 shots (33.3%)

The Griffins came no closer than 15 in the second half following Lee's three-point basket with just 2:45 left in the game.  Assumption closed out the game scoring the final eight points for the 23-point win.

The men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, November 15, 2025 when they taker on host College of Staten Island at 2 p.m.
