The Chestnut Hill College Women's Basketball team got off to a slow start in their season opener at Molloy University Saturday afternoon, falling to the Lions 85-72.
Tiayo Adelekan led five Griffin players in double figures with 15 points. She also added ten rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Tamia Washington added 12 points while Sara Tamoun chipped in 11. Anaisah Malone and Bryce Harvey-Carr rounded Chestnut Hill's double figure scorers with ten points apiece.
Tamoun added seven rebounds and a team-high five assists.
Molloy scored the game's first 14 points and never looked back, opening a 15-4 lead after the first quarter. A layup from Sabria Mann cut the lead to seven three minutes into the second quarter before the Lions used a 17-7 run to take a 34-17 lead en route to a 38-21 margin at halftime.
The Griffins cut the deficit to single digits with a 15-7 run in the first five minutes of the third quarter, capped with a jumper in the paint from Malone. A little under three minutes later, Malone's layup cut the deficit to six 49-43.
Molloy opened the fourth quarter with a 14-8 run to take a 14-point lead 69-55 with 6:32 left. Chestnut Hill could only cut the deficit to nine the rest of the way the Lions completed the wire-to-wire win outscoring the Griffins 9-5 over the final 3:32.
For the game, the Lions out-shot the Griffins 47.7% (31-65) to 31.5% (29-92) and out-rebounded the Griffins 55-43.
The women's basketball team returns to action on Sunday, November 16, 2025 when they take on Queens College at the Molloy Tournament in Rockville Centre, New York. Tipoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
