The Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team dropped a non-conference game to Adelphi university 84-63 Sunday afternoon at Adelphi's Center for Recreation and Sport in Garden City, New York.
The Griffins fall to 2-5 with the loss. The Panthers improve to 5-1.
Amari Dow led Chestnut Hill with 19 points while Jeremiah Dow added 15. Alejandro Redondo Cybak grabbed eight rebounds to lead the team. Tyler Spencer and Dow had six apiece.Â
Chestnut Hill had their only lead of the game, 10-9, five minutes in, following a 7-0 run which erased a six-point Panther lead. The Panthers reclaimed the lead on their next possession and their advantage oscillated between one and five points over the next five minutes with the Griffins pulling within one 17-16 on a pair of free throws from Landon Shivers.
Adelphi started to pull away in the final ten minutes of the half, outscoring the Griffins, 25-13 over the final ten minutes to lead 42-29 at the break.
Adelphi upped their lead to 16, 56-40 five minutes into the second half before the Griffins clawed their way back into the game with an 11-2 run to pull within seven 58-51 with 11-24 left. Dow led the charge with seven points during the spurt and Malcolm Day and Spencer added layups.
The Griffins still trailed by single digits, 65-57 with 7:44 left when the Panthers used a 12-4 uprising to put the game out of reach, 79-61 with 2:57 left and expended the lead to 21, 84-63 before the final buzzer sounded.
The Panthers shot a solid 58.1% (36-62) from the field while the Griffins made just 40.4% (23-57) of their shots. Adelphi also outscored the Griffins in the paint 60-32 and held a slight 32-29 rebounding advantage. Chestnut Hill committed 13 turnovers to Adelphi's seven with the Panthers producing 28 points of the CHC miscues( the Griffins scored 11 off the Panther turnovers).  The Griffins did finish the game making  11 of 12 free throw shots (91.7%) while Adelphi made just seven of nine (77.8%).
The men's basketball team returns to conference action on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 when they travel to face Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington Delaware. Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m.
