Men's Lacrosse Team Drops contest to Nationally Ranked Molloy

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Lacrosse team took on their third nationally ranked team in as many games Wednesday night, going up against the #15 Molloy University Lions at Molloy's RVC sports complex in Rockville Centre, New York.  The Lions used a strong second quarter to come away with a 13-6 win.

The Griffins fall to 1-3 with the loss.  Molloy improves to 6-1.

Jake Ballerini, Mick Kilgallon and Sam Slater had two goals apiece to pace the Chestnut Hill offense.  Evan Farlow led the team with four ground balls.  Adam Daley made 15 saves in goal for the Griffins.

Slater got the Griffins on the board with an unassisted goal at the 9:32 mark, tying the game at 1-1.  Less than two minutes later, he scored his second goal of the game with an assist from Kilgallon to again tie the score – this time at 2-2.  Ballerini scored at the 3:10 mark of the opening period to give the griffins a 3-2 lead.

Molloy scored in the final minute of the first quarter to tie the game at 3-3 and then outscored the Griffins 5-0 in the second quarter to take command of the contest with an 8-3 lead.  The lions added another goal early in the third, their seventh straight score to boost their lead to 9-3 before the Griffins got back in the scoring column.

Slater fed Ballerini for his second goal of the game at the 7:43 mark of the third quarter to make the score 9-4.  Molloy answered with three straight goals to take a 12-4 lead midway into the final quarter.

Kilgallon scored both his goals in a span of just 54 seconds in the fourth quarter, with Farlow assisting on his first score at the 5:32 mark and then tallying his second at the 4:238 mark to make the score 12-6.  Molloy added one more score with just under two minutes left to round out the scoring.

The men's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, March 15, 2025, when they host Felician University at Victory Field.  First faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
