Nicole George recorded a hat trick as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Lacrosse team won their  second conference game of the season, defeating Caldwell University 5-4 Saturday afternoon at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins improve to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games.  The Cougars fall to 0-4 in league play and 0-8 overall.
George's hat trick was her second of the season after scoring four in the Griffins' opener at St. Thomas Aquinas, and third of her career.   Angel'Lique Lockhart scored her first collegiate goal and Kendall Gayton added a score to round out the Griffins scoring.
Erin McCarthy and Molly Killion led the team with four ground balls apiece.  Killion and Abby Galazka had three caused turnovers apiece.  McCarthy earned the win in goal, making seven saves.
The Griffins opened the scoring with George putting a shot past CU goalkeeper Sarahkate Schneider at the 11:51mark of the first quarter.  The Cougars tied the score later in the period before George scored her second goal with 12:37 left in the second quarter on a free position shot.  
Again, the Cougars tied the score netting a goal at the 7:48 mark.  George completed her hat trick with 1:41 left in the period, as Gayton earned the assist on the play.  Gayton followed with her own goal with just 11 seconds left in the half to give the Griffins a 4-2 lead at halftime.
Lockhart netted he first collegiate goal at the 8:15 mark of the third quarter, taking a pass from Elizabeth Deal and putting the ball past Schneider for a 5-2 Griffins lead.  Caldwell added an unassisted goal with 5:44 in the third quarter and another at the 0:09 mark in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.
Following Caldwell's fourth goal, the Griffins' defense tightened up, allowing just two shots by the Cougars in the final nine minutes of play to secure the win.
The women's lacrosse team returns to action on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, when they travel to face Wilmington University.  First draw is set for 4:00 p.m.
