Sam Slater netted a sock trick with six goals as the Chestnut Hill college men's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in conference play, defeating Holy Family University 18-10 at victory field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins improve to 3-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games and 4-3 overall. The Tigers fall to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in league contests.
Prior to the start of the game the Griffins honored eight senior players who have made their mark on the program during their careers at Chestnut Hill. The eight included Slater,  Noah Hammon, Will Duddy, Austin Derx, Mick Kilgallon, Evan Farlow, Nick Suscovich and Cooper Jackson. A moving tribute to former player Billy DiMaio who lost his life in the New Year's Day terror attack in New Orleans followed the senior day honors.
Slater also added three assists to go along with his six goals for nine points, including the 100th point of his career. He becomes the 12th player in program history to reach the 100-point plateau and with his nine-point effort moved into the Griffins top ten all-time point scorers with 107.
Jayden Basalatan and Jake Ballerini added hat tricks with three goals apiece while Hammon had two goals and two assists. Duddy added a goal and three assists.
Slater also led the team with seven ground balls while Hammon and Daniel Myers had five apiece. Myers also recorded three caused turnovers. Suscovich won ten faceoffs and goalkeeper Adam Daley recorded ten saves.
The Tigers jumped on the board just 90 seconds into the game on the first of two goals by Noah Simpson. Chestnut Hill then took over, scoring 13 unanswered goals to take a 13-1 lead at halftime.
Derx and Basalatan put the Griffins ahead 2-1 with goals less than a minute apart in the first quarter, with slater assisting on both. Ballerini and Hammon then made the score 4-2 before Slater scored his first goal with 1.3 seconds left in the period to give the Griffins a 5-1 lead.
Slater scored three of the Griffins' eight goals in the second quarter and assisted on Basalatan's second goal of the quarter. Ballerini and Duddy added unassisted goals and Jonathan Bartolomei scored his first collegiate goal with Hammon assisting at the 11:24 mark, making the score 7-1 at the time.
Ballerini's third goal of the game came just 53 seconds into the third quarter, making the score 14-1. Kilgallon tallied a man-up goal at the 10:57 mark and Hammon notched his second of the game with 4:02 left in the period, but the Tigers outscored the Griffins 5-3 in the quarter to pull within ten 16-6.
Holy Family outscored the Griffins again in the fourth quarter, 4-2 with Slater netting the only two CHC goals in the period, the last coming with 2:42 left with an assist to Hammon on the play.
Jhay Dameus led the tigers with three goals while Simpson, Xander Kelly, and Jake Feeney had two apiece.
The Griffins return to action on Wednesday, April 2 when they face Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey. First faceoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
