Lions Hand Griffins First Conference Loss of Season

Georgian Court University scored three unanswered goals in the final four minutes as they handed the Chestnut Hill College Men's Lacrosse team their first conference loss of the season, 10-7 Wednesday afternoon at the GCU T& F Complex in Lakewood, New Jersey.

The Griffins fell to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games with the loss. The Lions improve to 7-5 overall and 4-0 in league games.

Mick Kilgallon led the Griffins with three goals while Will Duddy added two. Carter Getz led the team with five ground balls with Noah Hammon added four. Daniel Myers had four caused turnovers to pace the Griffins.  Adam Daley had 14 saves in net for Chestnut Hill.

Chestnut Hill jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter with two goals from Duddy and goals from Kilgallon and Sam Slater. GCU scored with 1:54 left in the quarter to make the score 4-1 heading into the second period.

The Lions made it 4-2 with a goal just 37 seconds into the second quarter before Jake Ballerini's goal at the 11:52 mark pushed their lead back to three 5-2. GCU scored twice more before halftime and the Griffins held a slim 5-4 lead at the break.

Kilgallon's second goal of the game early in the third quarter gave the Griffins a 6-4 lead before the Lions answered with three straight goals to take their first lead of the game 7-6 with just 5:39 left in the game.

The Griffins tied the game at 7-7 as Kilgallon scored his third goal of the game with 3:54 left.

The Lions almost immediately countered, winning the faceoff and scoring just 12 seconds later to take the lead 8-7. GCU added another goal with 2:28 left and scored their final goal just seven seconds later, again right off the faceoff.

The men's lacrosse team will return to action on Saturday, April 5, 2025, when they travel to face the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut. First faceoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
