The Chestnut Hill College Baseball team dropped their second consecutive game at the Wilson Tobs College Classic, falling to Glenville State 9-4 Friday afternoon at Fleming stadium in Wilson, North Carolina.
The Griffins fall to 4-4 with the loss. The Pioneers improve to 8-6.
Justin Geiger had two of the Griffins' three hits on the afternoon while Phoenix Bowman added a double for the Griffins only extra-base hit of the game. Rich Bonino took the loss, tossing six innings and allowing all nine runs (seven earned) while striking out six.
Glenville jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning via a two-run home run from Lance Minson before the Griffins rallied to tie the score in the top half of the third. Kenyon Motley walked to leadoff the inning and Daniel Ciotti was hit by a pitch. Bowman followed with a double to score Motley and Aiden Myers then reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Ryan McNichol, who entered the game to run for ciotti, evening the score at 2-2.
A solo home run by the Pioneers' Zac Bayor in the third and a grand slam home run by Zach Laurie in the fifth gave GSU at 7-2 lead. Minson added a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 9-2.
Michael Pascoe scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dylan Broderick for the Griffins' third run in the eighth inning while Pascoe walked with the bases loaded in the ninth, scoring Alexander Fascia with Chestnut Hill's final run.
The baseball team returns to action for their final two games in Wilson, North Carolina on Saturday, March 8, 2025, taking on Cedarville University at 1:00 p.m. and completing their tournament games with their second game against Glenville State at 5:00 p.m.
