The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team suffered their first loss of the season falling to four-time defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champions Wilmington University 6-1 Thursday afternoon at the CHC Tennis Courts.
The Griffins fall to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in conference matches. Wilmington is now 2-0 overall and in conference play.
The Wildcats started the match by winning the doubles point taking two of the three doubles contests. Chestnut Hill's only doubles win came at the #2 position as Elena Arenas Guisasola and Milica Zagorac defeated Gloria Bacaro and Elena Camacho, 6-2.
Wilmington went up 2-0 by virtue of a forfeit at #6 singles (CHC had only five players). The Wildcats scored the next two points to capture the match, with a win at #3 singles over Veronika Lundgren and at #1 singles over Zagorac.
Claudia Rasilla Romero earned the only point for the Griffins with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Ines Oliveira at #5 singles. The Wildcats closed out the match with wins at over Lilian Bandel at #4 singles and Arenas Guisasola at #2 singles.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday September 20, 2025, when they travel to face area rival Jefferson University. First Serve is at 12:00 p.m.
