A short-handed Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team dropped their second consecutive match Saturday afternoon, falling to conference rival Jefferson University 6-1 at TJU's Abraham J. Salaman '58 Tennis courts in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Griffins fall to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches. The Rams improve to 3-0 overall and 3-0 in league play.
Starting the day with just five players, the Griffins needed to win both doubles matches that they were playing. Lilian Bandel and Veronika Lundgren won their #2 doubles match 6-4 over Sophia Babar and Emily Frost. Chestnut Hill's number one doubles team of Elena Arenas Guisasola and Milica Zagorac however lost their match to Alycia Veroux and Anouk Oderkirk, 6-2 as the Rams captured the doubles point.
The Rams quickly went up 3-0 as the Griffins forfeited the #5 and #6 singles matches as Bandel retired due to injury.  Oderkirk then won her #1 singles match over Zagorac 6-1, 6-3 to clinch the match for the Rams who now led 4-0.
Lundgren recorded the only point for the Griffins, defeating Martas Vazquez, 6-4, 7-6 at #3 singles, making the score 5-1 at the time. Claudia Rasilla Romero closed out the match, falling in a tiebreaker to Rose Huang at #4 singles, 6-2, 3-6, 0-1 (9-11).
The women's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, when they host Goldey-Beacom College at the CHC Tennis Courts. First serve is at 2:00 p.m.
