A late rally by the Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team fell short as Post University pulled out a 72-68 win over the Griffins Saturday afternoon at the Drubner Center in Waterbury, Connecticut.
The Griffins fall to 7-11 overall and 5-6 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Eagles improve to 8-11 overall and 7-4 in league games.
Four players reached double figure scoring for the Griffins, led by Alejandro Redondo Cybak's 19 points (8-13 FG) Jeremiah Gorham added 16 points while Amari Dow chipped in 13. Tyler Spencer came off the bench to score ten points.
Cybak led the team with nine rebounds with Dow contributing six. Kamal Lee had four assists, and Landon Shivers added two blocks.
Post held a nine point lead with six minutes left in the game when they battled back with a 14-4 run to take a take a slim one point lead.  Camden Burns started the run with a short jumper. Dow followed making three of four free throws and after a pair of free throws by Post's Tre Duncan. Cybak added layup.  Spencer added two free throws and another Cybak layup tied the score at 64-64 with 2:20 left.  Following an Eagles basket, Spencer sank a three-point basket to put the Griffins on top 67-66 with 1:36 left in the game. Post finished the game, outscoring the Griffins 6-1 to earn a four point win.
Earlier, in the first half, the Griffins overcame an early Eagles lead to take a three-point lead midway through the period. Chestnut Hill still led by two, 27-25. The Eagles finished the half with a 12-2 run to take a 37-29 lead into the locker room at halftime and later expanded the lead to ten  midway through the second half.
For the game, the Eagles outshot the Griffins 41.9% (26-62) to 36.7% (22-60). The Griffins made two more three point field goals (7-5) and two more free throws (17-15) than the Eagles. The Eagles held a 40-37 rebounding advantage while the Griffins committed three fewer turnovers and produced a positive assist/turnover ratio 13/12 (6/15 for Post).
The men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, January 28, 2025 when they host Goldey-Beacom College at Sorgenti Arena. Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m.
