The Chestnut Hill College Women's Basketball team struggled on the road as they lost at Post University Saturday afternoon, 67-56.
The Griffins fall to 10-9 overall and 7-4 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games. The Eagles improve to 4-6 in league play and 6-9 overall. It was also the Griffins' first loss when holding an opponent to 69 points or less. (7-1)
Chestnut Hill got another solid game from senior Sara Tamoun. Tamoun led all scorers with 21 points (8-18 FG, 5 3pt. FG) and added six rebounds, four assists and one steal. It was Tamoun's fifth consecutive game scoring double figures and her fifth 20-point effort on the season. She has also recorded at least one assist in every game this season.
Tiayo Adelekan added 12 points (5-8 FG) and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Kourin Carew also grabbed eight rebounds and equaled Tamoun's game-high four assists. Anahita Jackson had four steals while Sabria Mann added three.
Post jumped out to a 14-8 lead after the first quarter, taking advantage of cold shooting by the Griffins (30.7%) and 13 CHC turnovers. The Eagles increased their lead to as many as ten before the Griffins closed out the quarter with an 8-2 run, fueled by three point baskets from Tamoun and Tamia Washington to trail by four at the half, 29-25.Â
Tamoun's layup late in the third quarter gave the Griffins their first lead of the game at 42-41 with Mann's free throw adding a point to the lead. Post's Tiara Tyson (19 points) tied the game with a basket as time was expiring.
The Griffins went back up by two on a Tamoun three-ball early in the final quarter, 49-47 but an 8-2 run from Post gave the hosts a 55-51 lead. Six of the Eagle's eight points in the run came off CHC turnovers.  Another three-ball from Tamoun pulled the Griffins within one 55-54 with 3:16 remaining. The Griffins, however, would score just one more basket over the final three minutes as the eagles closed out the game on a 12-2 run, again taking advantage of Chestnut Hill turnovers, scoring eight of their 12 points in their final run following a CHC turnover.
Post finished the game scoring 32 points off 38 Chestnut Hill turnovers. The Griffins scored 20 points off 25 Post turnovers. For the game, the Griffins shot 36.7% (22-60) from the field while the Eagles shot (41.1%). The Griffins made seven three-point baskets while holding the eagles to just one. The Eagles, however, had a huge advantage on the free throw line, making 20 of 29 to CHC's 5-for-9. The Griffins finished the game with a 47-30 rebounding advantage.
