The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team clinched a spot in the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship tournament Sunday night with a 6-1 win over Post University at Frog Hollow Country Club in Lansdale.
The Griffins improve to 6-4 in CACC matches and 8-4 overall. The Eagles fall to 0-9 in league play and 0-10 overall. The top four teams qualify for the conference tournament. The Griffins sit ½ game ahead of Wilmington with the Wildcats having three games to play (Chestnut Hill has two). The team also holds a three game lead over fifth place University of the District of Columbia.
Chestnut Hill started the match by sweeping all three doubles contests to take a 1-0 lead in the contest. Elena Arenas Guisasola and Lilian Bandel defeated Ana Vasilis and Julie Merlin 6-2 at #1 doubles. Veronika Lundgren and Milica Zagorac followed with a 6-4 win over Savannah Croft and Juana Espana at #2 doubles. Fabienne Lahn and Tia Kaukenas completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win over Bintu Drame and Laura Kotala at #3 doubles.
Post scored their only point with a default win at #6 singles. Bandel put the Griffins ahead 2-1 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #3 singles while Lundgren was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Kotala at #4 singles.
Lahn clinched the match for the Griffins, defeating Drame, 6-3, 6-1 at #5 singles. Arenas Guisasola and Zagorac scored the final two points for the Griffins with Arena Guisasola winning 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) at #2 singles and Zagorac winning 7-6 (7-1), 6-4 at #1 singles.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Monday, October 5, 2026 when they travel to face Saint Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, New York. First serve is at 3:00 p.m.
