The Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team put three players in double figures, but it wasn't enough to overcome a strong first half by host Jefferson University as the Rams handed the Griffins an 82-72 loss Wednesday night at the Gallagher Center in Philadelphia.
The Griffins fall to 8-18 overall and 6-13 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Rams improve to 16-11 overall and 12-8 in league play.
Alejandro Redondo Cybak led the Griffins with 17 points while Amari Dow added 16 points and a team high 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.  Jeremiah Gorham chipped in 12 points. Cybak also led the team with four assists, while Dow had three steals.
The Griffins held the early lead until the Rams fired back with an 11-2 run to take a 14-8 lead at the 15:26 mark of the first half. Chestnut Hill kept the score within two possessions over the next five minutes and trailed by five 21-16 when the Rams starting pulling away, producing a 14-5 run over the next three minutes to lead 35-21 with 6:34 left in the half. The Griffins closed within 11, before the Rams pulled away to lead by 17 at the half 49-32.
Jefferson kept the double digit lead throughout the second half despite the Griffins' attempts to chip away at the deficit. Chestnut Hill pulled within 11 with 3:28 left but that would be as close as they would come until the final basket, a dunk by Dow with ten seconds left, finalizing the 82-72 outcome.
While both teams shot fairly well overall (TJU- 44.1%, CHC- 43.1%) from the field, the Rams connected on 14 three-point baskets (14-36, 32.6%) while the Griffins made just one in 11 attempts. The Griffins made 15 of 23 free throws, nearly double the amount of the Rams who were an efficient 8-of-9 from the charity stripe. The Rams also held a narrow 41-39 rebounding edge.
The men's basketball team will close out their regular season at home on Saturday February 28, 2026 when they host Felician University. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
