Holy Family University used a dominant third quarter to pull away from the Chestnut Hill College Women's Basketball team as they went on to defeat the Griffins 72-54 Tuesday night at HFU';s Campus Center in Northeast Philadelphia.
The Griffins fall to 11-10 overall and 8-5 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Tigers remain undefeated in league play with a 13-0 mark and improve to 18-3 overall.
Tiayo Adelekan was the only Griffin to reach double figures, scoring 14 points (6-9 FG) in 26 minutes off the bench. Adelekan also added six rebounds and a pair of steals. Sabria Mann led the team with seven rebounds and three steals.
Holding a five point lead at halftime, the Tigers outscored the Griffins 22-11 in the third quarter to take a 52-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Holy Family increased the lead to as many as 23 in the fourth quarter and finisher the period, outscoring the Griffins 20-18 to secure the 18-point win.
In the first half, the two teams exchanged three point baskets to start the game before the Tigers ran off nine straight points to take an early 12-3 lead. Chestnut Hill countered with a 10-0 getting two baskets from Tikyra Miller and layups from Sara Tamoun, Adelekan and Kourin Carew to take a 13-12 lead. The two teams exchanged baskets before two free throws from HFU's Taylor Hinkle (game-high 24 points) put the Tigers back on top 16-15 at the end on f one period.
The Tigers opened the second quarter with an 12-3 run to take a double-digit lead 28-18 with 4:14 left in the period. Chestnut Hill closed out the quarter with a 7-2 spurt to close halve the lead, 30-25 at halftime.
For the game, The Griffins struggled shooting wise, connecting on just 22 of 64 shots for a 34.4% effort. The Tigers , fueled by a 57% second half shooting effort finished the game shooting 43.5% (27-62).  Both teams made just five three-point baskets with the Tigers slightly more efficient (5-16  to CHC's 5-23). Chestnut Hill went to the free throw line just three times , making five of six shots while the Tigers went to the line 11 times, making 13 of 22 shots from the charity stripe. The Tigers also outrebounded the Griffins 44-39.Â
The women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, February 7, 2026 with a game at Dominican University in Orangeburg, New York. Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
