Griffins Fall to Nationally Ranked Setters

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Lacrosse team faced a nationally ranked opponent for the second consecutive week, traveling to face #13 Pace University in Pleasantville, new York.  The Setters came away with a 13-5 victory.

The Griffins fall to 0-2 on the season while the Setters improve to 1-1.

Freshman Matthew Miller tallied two of the Griffins five goals while Jake Ballerini, Preston Page and Aidan Walsh scored one goal apiece.    Aidan Owens had four ground balls to pace the Griffins while Thomas Gallagher and Miller had three apiece.  Gallagher led the team with two caused turnovers.  Adam Daley made 20 saves in goal for the Griffins.

The Setters scored the only goal in the opening period and held a 1-0 lead until Miller tied the game with an unassisted goal at the 12:39 mark.    Less than a minute later Pace went back on top 2-1  and the Griffins again came back to tie the score at 2-2 at the 10:17 mark of the second quarter on Walsh's unassisted goal.

Pace scored four more times before halftime to lead 6-2 at the break.

Miller scored his second goal of the game at the 13:45 mark of the third quarter and Page scored 75 seconds later with an assist from Will Duddy to make the score 6-4.   The Setters scored three unanswered goals before the period ended to take a 9-4 lead.

The Setters added two more goals in the fourth to lead 11-4 before Ballerini scored the Griffins final goal of the afternoon, unassisted at the 7:04 mark.  Two more Pace goals in the final three minutes rounded out the scoring.

The men's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, March 7, 2026 for their home and conference opener, hosting the University of Bridgeport at Victory Field.  First faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
