Seven different players scored as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Lacrosse team won their second straight contest, defeating Eastern University 12-1 Wednesday night at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill.
The Griffins improve to 3-1 overall while Eastern falls to 1-2.
Samantha Martin led the way for the Griffins, tallying four goals. Carlee O'Donnell and Kendall Gayton had two goals apiece. Molly Miller and Bryce Westervelt had one goal and one assist apiece for two points. Ryley Geary and Gen Washington-Vasquez rounded out the CHC goal scorers.
Elizabeth Deal led the team with four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Westervelt added three ground balls while Martin had two caused turnovers. Mel Amador had 15 saves in goal
Martin drove to the net for an unassisted goal at the 8:51 mark of the first quarter for the only score of the period. Miller added a free-position goal at the 13:58 mark on the second quarter and Geary scored at 11:46 with an assist from Deal to make the score 3-0
The Griffins then got a pair of man-up goals a bout a minute apart in the second quarter with Martin getting her second goal of the game at the 9:36 mark and Washington-Vasquez at the 8:30 mark. Both goals were free position goals. Gayton added a free-position goal with 4:12 left and O'Donnell tallied her first goal of the game with an assist from Westervelt with 3:01 left in the quarter. Martin added her third goal of the game with 1:18 left in the half, making the score 8-0.
The Eagles got on the board with 37 seconds left in the half via an unassisted goal from Morgan Wallace. Gayton rounded out the first half scoring, notching her second goal of the game with just 13 seconds left as she was falling to the ground within the eight meter circle, giving the Griffins a 9-1 lead at the half.
Chestnut Hill scored three more times in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring. Westervelt notched her first goal of the game at the 11:16 mark while Martin scored her fourth of the game with 9:15 left. O'Donnell tallied the Griffins final goal with 6:40 left.
The women's lacrosse team returns to action with a game against Edinboro University  on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. First draw is at 12:00 p.m.
