Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Ballerini has an 11-Point Game as Griffins Defeat Chargers

Jake Ballerini became the sixth player in program history to record at least 10 points in a single game as he scored four goals and assisted on seven others, leading the Griffins to a 14-5 win over Dominican university Saturday afternoon at Victory Field

The Griffins remain perfect in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games with a 3-0 mark and improve to 3-2 overall.  The Chargers fall to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in league play

Ballerini's 11 point effort is one shy of equaling the school record of 12 points in a game set by Carson Rees in 2021 and Alec Dambach in 2017.  His seven assists was also one shy of Ree's record of eight assists in a game.

Matthew Miller, Aidan Walsh and Collin Swiderski added two goals apiece, with four additional Chestnut Hill players scoring one goal apiece.  Landon Hare also scored his first collegiate goal in the final minute of the game.

Will Duddy had three assists on the afternoon.  The Griffins' faceoff specialist, Carter Getz, won 13 of 22 faceoff attempts and finished the game with a game-high seven ground balls. Thomas Gallagher, Reese Gilmore, Aidan Owens and Silas Charles had three ground balls apiece. Charles also had two caused turnovers.  Adam Daley had nine saves in goal for the Griffins while earning the win.

The Griffins jumped out to a 6-2 lead after the first quarter.  The Chargers struck first but the Griffins followed with five of the next six goals.  Swiderski and Miller each scored twice with Preston Page and Walsh also tallying goals.  Walsh's score came as time was expiring in the quarter.  Ballerini assisted on three of the Griffin goals in the opening quarter.

Ballerini extended the lead to 8-2 with two goals in the first five minutes of the second quarter.  DU's Chad Keyser notched his second goal of the game at the 8:15 mark of the quarter and rounded out the period's scoring as the Griffins took an 8-3 lead at halftime.

Chestnut Hill scored the only three goals in the third quarter, with Ballerini starting things off with his third goal with Duddy getting the assist.  Walsh and Charles  also scored with Ballerini notching his four and fifth assists of the game on the two scores.

Gilmore opened the scoring in the fourth quarter with Ballerini again assisting on the score.  Ballerini then added his fourth goal of the game with 8:57 left as Duddy tallied his third assist on the play, extending the Griffins lead to 13-3.  The Chargers scored twice over the next 90 seconds to cut the lead to 13-5, where it stood until Ballerini assisted on Hare's goal with just 57 seconds left in the game.

For the game, the Griffins outshot the Chargers 56-24 (27-14 on goal) and had 36 ground balls to DUNY's 21.  The Griffins had 23 successful clears (out of 24) while Dominican had 16 (out of 23).  Chestnut Hill won 13 of 22 faceoffs.

The men's lacrosse team returns to action on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 when they host Quincy University at Victory Field.   Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
