The Chestnut Hill College Men's Lacrosse team won their fourth straight game Wednesday night as they defeated Quincy University 11-6 at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill.
The Griffins improve to 4-2 on the season. Quincy falls to 2-6.
A trio of Griffins scored two goals apiece on the night. Aidan Walsh tallied two goals and also had an assist to finish with three points. Jake Ballerini and Brady DeRome also scored twice. Collin Swiderski and Matthew Miller had one assist apiece to goal along with a goal to finish the contest with two points. Charles Cox, Preston Page and Will Duddy also scored for the Griffins.
Carter Getz led the Griffins with six ground balls. DeRome, Walsh, Duddy, Jonathan Bartolomei and Daniel Myers had four apiece. Ballerini finished the game with three caused turnovers while Myers, Thomas Gallagher and Aidan Owens had two apiece. Adam Daley made five saves in goal.
Walsh and DeRome staked the Griffins to a 2-0 lead in the first five minutes of the first quarter before the Hawks scored two straight to tie the game at 2-2. Walsh tallied his second goal of the game at the 2:32 mark of the first quarter to break the tie as Miller garnered the assist. Thirty-nine seconds later, Derome had his second goal of the game with Paul Katko-Capozzi earning the assist, giving the Griffins a 4-2 lead. Quincy scored with 22 second left in the quarter to cut the lead to 4-3.
Miller opened the scoring in the second quarter with an unassisted goal at the 13:12 mark before the Hawks again pulled within one. Cox scored with nine minutes left and Ballerini and Page scored goals 52 seconds apart to increase Chestnut Hill's lead to four 8-4 with 5:03 left. The final score of the second quarter belonged to Quincy and the pulled within three 8-5 at halftime.
The Griffins outscored the Hawks, 3-1 in the final 30 minutes of action, with Duddy and Ballerini notching third quarter scores and Swiderski scoring the game's only fourth quarter goal.
For the game, the Griffins outshot the Hawks, 34-14 (25-11 on goal) and won 11 of 21 faceoffs. Chestnut Hill held a 45-31 advantage in ground balls and committed 11 fewer turnovers 21-32.
The men's lacrosse team returns to conference play on Saturday when they travel to face Wilmington University in Newark, Delaware.  Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
