Eagles and Griffins Split their Two-Game Set in Connecticut

For the third straight conference series, the Chestnut Hill College baseball team split their series opening doubleheader as they lost the opening game to Post University 13-3 and followed that up with a 6-3 win in game two at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury, Connecticut.

The Griffins are now 4-4 In Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games and 7-9 overall.  Post is 11-13 overall and 5-3 in league play.

Game two saw Michael Pascoe hit a doubler and a three-run home run to pace the chestnut Hill offense.  Kenyon Motley and Angus Moore also drive in runs for the Griffins.

Rich Bonino earned the win in relief, pitching four scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out two.

Pascoe scored the first run after doubling in his first at bat and moving to third on a wild pitch. He then scored when Nicholas Shiffler reached base on a two-out error, giving the Griffins a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Moore walked with the bases loaded in the second inning to plate Aiden Myers with the second Griffins run.  Motley followed with a sacrifice fly to right field to score Dylan Broderick.  Myers and Broderick had both reached on singles earlier in the inning.  Two batters later, Pascoe  connected on a 2-2 pitch off Eagles pitcher Harby Valera and sent the ball over the right field fence for a three-run home run and a 6-0 Chestnut Hill lead.

The Eagles scored three times in the third off CHC starter Mason Adkins to cut the lead in half, 6-3.  Bonino entered the game in the fourth inning and pitched out of jams in the fourth and the sixth innings before retiring the Eagles in order in their last at-bast to earn the win.

In the opener, Post scored four times in the fifth and ten times in the sixth inning to open up a big lead en route to a 13-3 run-rule win.

Jackson Shollenberger hit two doubles while Wyatt Spinks added a triple.  Motley and Broderick also doubled, and Pascoe and Spinks joined Shollenberger with two hits apiece.

Pascoe also took the loss on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings and giving up seven runs on seven hits while striking out five.

Motley delivered a one-out double in the third and came around to score on spinks single for a 1-0 Griffin lead.  

Post had three hits in the bottom of the third inning to retake the lead 3-1 before the griffins struck again in the top half of the fifth inning.  Spinks had a two-out triple and scored on Pascoe's single to make the score 3-2.

The Eagles tagged Pascoe for four runs in the fifth before he left the mound, taking a 7-2 lead. Shollenberger doubled to lead off the sixth inning and scored when Broderick delivered a two-out double to make the score 7-3.

 George Conway pitch the sixth inning as the Eagles plated six more runs to round out the scoring.

The baseball team returns to action on Sunday, March 22, 2026 when the conclude their series with Post University, hosting the Eagles at Hostelley Field.  First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
