Kenyon Motley drove in five runs while Wyatt Spinks continued his hotting hitting as the Chestnut Hill College Baseball team completed their game sweep of Lincoln University on Sunday, defeating the Lions 14-2 at Lincoln University's Baseball Field.
The Griffins are now 11-11 overall and 8-6 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Lions fall to 5-17 overall and 2-11 in league play.
Motley had four hits including a triple and two stolen bases while recording a career-best five RBI from the leadoff spot in the lineup. Spinks' hot bat continued with two hits, a double and a triple ; a stolen base and three RBI.
Gavin Maguire earned his first collegiate win pitching four innings and allowing two runs on one hit while striking out two.
Two errors by the Lions in the second inning led to two runs for the Griffins. The Lions got a run back in bottom half of the third before the Griffins exploded for five runs in the fourth to take command of the contest.
Nicholas Shiffler and Michael Melosky hit back-to-back singles and Angus Moore walked to load the bases. Motley followed with a two-run single as Moore moved to third. He then stole second to set the table for Spinks who doubled to left field to score Moore and Motley. Spinks stole third and then came home on a throwing error from the LU catcher for the final run of the inning.
Leading 7-2 in the fifth, the Griffins tacked on five more runs to lead 12-2. Jackson Shollenberger and Shiffler drew back-to-back walks and Melosky advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt. Moore delivered a double to Shollenberger and Motley then cleared the bases with a triple to right field. Spinks then delivered an RBI triple and two batters later Aiden Myers singled to score Spinks.
Melosky's double with two-on and nobody out scored Anthony Jakeman in the sixth inning and Motley finished his five-RBI day with a single to score Shiffler.
Lincoln loaded the bases (on three walks) in the seventh before the Griffins left them stranded as Anthnoy Letizia got Isaiah Tinsley-Cobbs to line out to the shortstop.
The baseball team returns to action on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 when they travel to play Jefferson University. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
