The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team dropped a close 4-3 decision to East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday at ESU's Wolbers Courts in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins fall to 5-11 with the loss.
Playing with only five players, the Griffins were forced to forfeit #3 doubles, which left the Warriors needing to win one of the two other doubles matches to capture the doubles point. Elena Arenas Guisasola and Claudia Rasilla Romero dropped their match at #1 doubles 6-1 to Ariel Kelsick and Jenna Kastell to secure the doubles point for the hosts.
Now trailing 2-0, the Griffins got on the board when Lilian Bandel defeated Audrey Conover 6-2, 6-1 at #4 singles. Kelsick defeated Arenas, 6-4, 6-1 at #1 singles to make the score 3-1 before Milica Zagorac earned a 6-4, 7-5 win over Kastell at #2 singles to close the gap to 3-2.
Veronika Lundgren tied the score at 3-3 with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Alice Ehlenlechner at #3 singles. Rasilla then dropped a hard fought #5 singles match in a tiebreak round, losing 6-1, 7-6, 0-1 (2-10) to Theresa Bauer to give ESU the match.
The women's tennis team will close out their 2025-26 season on Saturday with a match at Bloomsburg University. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
